Land Mafia Exploits Bharatmala Project Area for Overnight Development
Residents of Jirighat Dighli village are alarmed by the sudden construction of building after building on land designated for the national-level Bharatmala project. The villagers are particularly concerned because external land mafias, including Iqbal Hussain and Zumba Khan from Dudhpatil GP, have purchased large plots of land and erected buildings overnight.
Local villagers reported their shock at seeing these rapid developments. They believe that the mafias are constructing substandard buildings in the Dighli forest to embezzle substantial government funds. These villagers, who have never seen such large buildings in their remote village since independence, recall that the lands were previously used for farming.
However, after the completion of the Bharatmala survey, these external mafias purchased several acres of land at low prices and started building large structures and nurseries overnight. The villagers question how this was possible and raise sensational concerns about potential involvement from the settlement office, district administration, and even the Lakhipur BJP.
The conscious villagers voice severe allegations and troubling questions about why the administration remains silent against those obstructing the implementation of a significant national development project. The central issue among them is who is covertly supporting these land mafias. Since the Bharatmala project’s measurements began, these mafias have been buying land from Arkati Pur to Jaliyura, a remote area near the Manipur border, and starting various private projects on the land designated for the road.
Concerned individuals express fears that such unauthorized construction after the final survey will hinder the timely and proper completion of the Bharatmala project.
