Leo Club of Silchar-Care kick started its journey with Plastic Wastage Collection

Leo club of Silchar has always been in the limelight ever since. Leo of Silchar Care is the youth wing of the Lions Club of Silchar Care. The club has started the new wing "Leo Club Silchar Care" on 1st July 2021. The tagline of the club, "We care" itself says that the club is entitled to work and provide sevice to the deprived and needy section of the society.

From the very rise of the Leo Club, it has been associated with various activities of social welfare and has gained a good reputation in Silchar. Now, the Leo Club of Silchar Care, which is yet another wing of the Leo club, has started its journey with the very first project of Plastic Wastage Collection today (11th July 2021). The project was kick-started with the members of the club meeting up at Devdoot point. All the covid protocols were maintained and the members were accompanied by masks and sanitisers too. 

Because of the ongoing pandemic situation being an obstruction, the project was carried out by 10 members of the club. According to Project Chairperson Leo Arunava Jyoti Nath, throwing garbage on road and littering around has become a major issue in the city and as a result, all of us have to come across various other problems that are associated with it. Drains get clogged, an infestation of mosquitoes, the city becomes filthy and what not. 

These are the reasons why they have started their first project with the motive of  SWACHHATA in mind in the presence of District President Leo Abhishek Chakraborty and President of Lions Club of Silchar Care, Lion Dipankar Saha. The team has collected dry plastic waste from the streets and finally disposed of the collection in the Solid Waste Management centre. The project covered an area from Devdoot to Capital point. The members are happy to mark their beginning with a project which is of utter need in the present day.
