Major drug bust in Cachar district: Police seize heroin worth 5 crores

Cachar Police's anti-drug operation continues with significant success. Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid in the Shalchapra area on Friday night and intercepted an auto-rickshaw (AS11 EC 4513).

Upon searching, they discovered 974 grams of suspected heroin hidden in 47 soap boxes. A 24-year-old youth, Siruk Uddin Laskar, was arrested during the operation.

According to Cachar Superintendent of Police, Numal Mahatta, the seized heroin's market value is estimated to be around ₹5 crore.

The arrested trafficker, a resident of Bhaga Bazar Hawaithang, is currently being interrogated by the police.

Mahatta revealed that the heroin was brought into the district from another state with the intention of being sold locally.
