Major Drug Bust in Guwahati: STF Apprehends 12 Peddlers and Seizes Contraband Drugs
The arrested individuals and the seized items were promptly handed over to the Guwahati City Police for the registration of a case.
Guwahati, Assam - In a significant operation, the Special Task Force (STF) Assam achieved a major breakthrough on Monday night by apprehending 12 drug peddlers, including 4 women, along with a cache of contraband drugs in Guwahati city. Acting on credible information, the STF team conducted a well-coordinated operation at the Parking area of Guwahati Railway Station under Panbazar police station, leading to the successful arrests.
"During the operation, the STF team apprehended 12 drug peddlers, including 4 women, red-handed. The suspects were caught with 104 vials suspected to contain heroin, along with 275 empty vials, a cash amount of Rs 45,000, 2 scooters, 5 mobile phones, and syringes with incriminating articles," stated Partha Sarathi Mahanta, DIG (STF).
The arrested individuals and the seized items were promptly handed over to the Guwahati City Police for the registration of a case. Authorities are currently conducting further investigations to unravel the network and apprehend any other individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.
