Major drug bust in Hailakandi: Police seize 8,600 YABA tablets worth ₹26 lakh, 2 arrested

In a significant development, police in Hailakandi, Assam, seized a substantial haul of 8,600 YABA tablets, valued at around ₹26 lakh, on Tuesday, April 30. Acting on a tip-off, a dedicated police team, led by Officer-in-Charge Bishnu Baruah, conducted a targeted operation in the Thandapur area.

 The operation resulted in the apprehension of two individuals, Anam Uddin Laskar and Abdul Rauf, who are now in custody in Panchgram. Alongside the narcotics, authorities also seized ₹80,000 in cash suspected to be tied to the illicit trade.

This successful raid underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat drug trafficking in the region. The thorough search of a stopped vehicle led to the discovery of the illegal substances, highlighting the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations.
