Major drug bust in Lakhipur; Four arrested in anti-narcotics operation

In a significant crackdown against illegal substances, the Lakhipur Police, in collaboration with the Rapid Action Force (RAF), successfully apprehended four individuals and seized narcotics worth an estimated one crore rupees. The operation unfolded behind the veil of silence, with the authorities tactfully conducting a raid on an Alto vehicle with registration number ML04B-6258 in the vicinity of Harinagar, under the jurisdiction of Joypur Police Station in Lakhipur.

The covert operation, which took place under the leadership of Superintendent of Police (SP) Barhmiz Chupari, witnessed the joint efforts of the RAF and local police personnel. The targeted Alto vehicle, ostensibly on a routine journey, was found to be transporting a substantial quantity of illicit drugs.

The concealed narcotics, suspected to be heroin, were hidden within the vehicle, evading detection until the diligent police action unfolded. The timely intervention also prevented the illegal substance from reaching its intended destination, ensuring the interception and neutralization of a potential threat to the community.

The arrested individuals, identified as Abdul Mannan (31), Abdul Munim (49), Tajim Uddin (25) from Kalain, and Imran Hussen (23), are currently in custody at the Lakhipur Police Station. Sources reveal that they are residents of Katigara in Cachar.

The Lakhipur Police remain tight-lipped about further details of the ongoing investigation, stating that additional information is being withheld for security reasons. The suspects are likely to face charges related to drug trafficking and possession with the intent to distribute.
