Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee has pledged to scrap the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) if her party is voted into power in Assam. Speaking at an election rally in Silchar, Southern Assam, Banerjee criticized the BJP-led central government for its handling of the Manipur crisis and for failing to deliver on promises such as job creation and income doubling for farmers. She called on the people of Assam to unite under the TMC banner to oust the BJP from power.

Banerjee recounted her tenure as railway minister and her involvement in the NRC and CAA agitations, promising support to those affected by the exclusion of millions. She also accused the BJP of attempting to manipulate the electoral process and fomenting communal tensions for electoral gains. Additionally, she emphasized her alliance with Congress and the CPM at the national level and her commitment to defeating the BJP in Bengal.

The TMC is contesting four parliamentary seats in Assam, fielding candidates including former AIUDF MP Radheshyam Biswas from Silchar, Abul Kalam Azad from Barpeta, and other candidates from Kokrajhar and Lakhimpur. Banerjee expressed empathy for the concerns of the Assamese people and promised to stand in solidarity with them if her party is voted to power in the state.
