'Mamata Resign' chants erupt at ABVP's Silchar rally over RG Kar m*rder-r*pe

Tensions soared in Silchar following the murder of a female doctor at RG Kar Medical College. On Saturday, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) students protested by surrounding the Trinamool Congress office on Park Road and blocking traffic for nearly an hour. They were met with resistance from Trinamool Congress workers, leading to clashes.

During the protests, students attempted to burn an effigy of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The police intervened, seizing the effigy before it could be set alight. Female protesters continued by burning the effigy of Banerjee in front of the police. The situation was eventually brought under control with the intervention of the district police.
