Authorities in Assam conducted a successful narcotic bust on Wednesday, seizing 20,000 Yaba tablets and apprehending two female carriers aboard the Rajdhani Express. The Government Railway Police (GRP) led the operation, acting on specific inputs, and conducted the raid at around 7 am on train number 20503. The apprehended women, Sumitra Barman (35) and Mamoni Ray (40), both originally from West Bengal, were caught with large quantities of Yaba tablets, with each carrying 10,000 tablets.

The raid, conducted by GRP Assam, targeted the Rajdhani Express based on intelligence information, resulting in the apprehension of the two female carriers from West Bengal.

Sumitra Barman and Mamoni Ray, both residents of Dinhata Thapu village under Dinhata Police Station, were found in possession of 100 packets, each containing 10,000 suspected Yaba tablets. The successful operation underscores the authorities' commitment to combating narcotics trafficking and ensuring the safety of rail transport in the region.

The seized 20,000 Yaba tablets represent a significant blow to the illegal drug trade, with the GRP Assam emphasizing the importance of such operations in curbing the flow of narcotics. Investigations are ongoing to determine the source and destination of the seized contraband, with the authorities vowing to take further action against those involved in drug trafficking activities.
