Amid relentless rainfall and the havoc of Cyclone Remal, Cachar district in the Barak Valley is grappling with severe flooding.
To assess the situation, Assam's Minister for Transport, Excise, and Fisheries, Parimal Suklabaidya, visited several flood-hit areas.
Minister Suklabaidya inspected shelters at Town Higher Secondary School in Panchgram, Thandapur Upgraded LP School, Silchar Government Boys and Girls Schools, and Narsing Higher Secondary School.
He ensured that the refugees had adequate relief materials, clean drinking water, and other emergency supplies.
The Minister also visited the sluice gate at Punirmukh in the Palanghat G.P. of Dholai constituency, instructing officials to use geobags to prevent further damage from the overflowing Rukni River.
