A shocking incident unfolded at Amtala Market in Katigorah, near the India-Bangladesh border in Cachar, where an accused person was forcibly taken away from police custody by an angry mob. The incident occurred yesterday afternoon when a team of police, led by ASI Uttam Sinha from Katigorah Police Station, went to Amtala to investigate a financial fraud case.

The police team arrested the main accused, Giyas Uddin, at the market. However, as they were about to place him in the police vehicle, a group of people, including the accused's two brothers, became agitated and forcefully took Giyas Uddin from police custody.

The situation quickly spiraled out of control as the mob created a chaotic scene, disrupting the police operation. During the commotion, the mob even attempted to attack the complainant, Kawsar Uddin, who had accompanied the police.

The tension escalated to such an extent that the police were compelled to retreat from the area with the complainant for safety. Later, in their frustration, the mob, unable to locate the complainant, assaulted his brother.

ASI Uttam Sinha of Katigorah Police Station confirmed the entire incident. He explained that Kawsar Uddin, a resident of Kalain Lakhipur, had filed a complaint against Giyas Uddin, accusing him of financial fraud.

When the police went to investigate and arrest the accused, a group of people became agitated and snatched him from police custody. ASI Sinha acknowledged the failure to retain custody of the accused and confirmed the sequence of events on camera.
