Cyclone Remal's relentless heavy rains have caused a critical situation in Barak, with rising water levels in several rivers, including the Barak, exacerbating the crisis. In Gossaipur, Cachar, 60-year-old Mazzamil Ali Laskar disappeared in the Madhura River after he slipped while monitoring the water levels.
Despite his son's frantic rescue efforts, Laskar was swept away by the strong currents. Local police and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) quickly responded and are currently searching the river, but the powerful currents are hindering their efforts.
The incessant rainfall from Cyclone Remal has significantly raised the danger levels of the region's rivers, intensifying the need for rescue operations and resident safety measures. Authorities are urging people to stay away from rivers, particularly those originating from the hills, to avoid further tragedies.
