In the wake of renewed violence in Manipur, over 600 residents have fled to the neighboring state of Assam, seeking refuge in the Lakhipur subdivision of Cachar district. Cachar Superintendent of Police, Numal Mahatta, has been closely monitoring the influx of people from the Jiribam district of Manipur.

According to Mahatta, approximately 600-700 individuals, predominantly women and children, have arrived in Lakhipur seeking safety from the unrest in their home state.

Despite the influx of displaced individuals, the situation in the bordering areas of Cachar remains calm. SP Mahatta assured that the Assam Police are maintaining a vigilant watch over the region to ensure peace and security.

The authorities are coordinating efforts to provide necessary support and shelter to the refugees while closely monitoring any developments that might affect the stability of the area.

The movement of such a significant number of people highlights the severity of the violence in Manipur and the urgent need for peace and resolution. As Assam extends its support to those seeking refuge, the situation underscores the interconnectedness of regional stability and the importance of maintaining a vigilant and responsive approach to emerging crises.

The Assam Police continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of both the local population and the new arrivals from Manipur.
