Police seize huge quantity of suspected Morphine at Karbi Anglong's Khakrajan Check Post

In a collaborative effort based on intelligence input, Golaghat Police, in coordination with Karbi Anglong Police, executed a successful anti-drug operation on Wednesday. The operation unfolded at Khakrajan Check Post under Barpathar Police Station in Karbi Anglong.

During the operation, a Mahindra XUV 500 with registration No. AS-01BD/2314 was intercepted and subjected to a thorough search. The search revealed a hidden stash of suspected morphine weighing a total of 1.850 kg concealed within the spare wheel of the vehicle. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is approximately Rs. 92 lakhs.

As a result of the operation, two individuals have been apprehended: Akum Chang (59 yrs), residing at Rongmei Colony, PS: East PS, Dimapur, Nagaland, and Ongbou Chang (45 yrs), residing at Borlengri, Block 1, PS: Khatkhati, Dist: Karbi Anglong.

The joint operation was conducted by Additional SP (Crime), Golaghat, along with SDPO, Bokajan, OC Golaghat PS, and OC Barpathar PS (KA) with their respective staff. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to uncover any additional details related to the drug seizure and trafficking network.
