During his visit, Rahul Gandhi expressed his commitment to preserving the diverse cultural fabric of India.
Mizoram, India- Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, on the second day of his Mizoram tour, made a spirited entrance, teaming up with former Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla. The Congress leader showcased his adventurous side by hopping onto the backseat of a two-wheeler to reach Thanhawla's residence, capturing the attention of locals.
During his visit, Rahul Gandhi expressed his commitment to preserving the diverse cultural fabric of India. He highlighted the significance of unity amidst diversity, denouncing the ruling BJP government's divisive policies. "The Bharat Jodo Yatra celebrated the idea of India, where our country's languages, religions, cultures, and traditions are respected and protected. The BJP destroyed that idea in Manipur. We will not allow them and MNF to do the same in Mizoram," asserted Gandhi, setting the tone for his Mizoram campaign.
Amidst his fervent campaign, the Congress party unveiled its lineup of 39 candidates for the upcoming Mizoram Assembly elections. Prominent names like Lalsanglura Ralte, Lalnunmawia Chuaungo, and Lalhmingthanga Sailo were announced, signaling the party's intent to contest the polls with vigor.
In his fiery address, Gandhi lambasted the BJP government, holding them responsible for economic distress across the nation due to policies like demonetization and the Goods and Services Tax (GST). He accused the government of prioritizing the interests of select businessmen over the welfare of small and medium enterprises, painting a grim picture of India's economic trajectory.
Moreover, Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the divisive situation in Manipur, alleging that the BJP had fragmented the once-unified state into two. His sharp remarks underscored the contentious political climate in the region.
