Record-breaking 7-8 Ft banded Krait rescued in Palangghat, Cachar
On Friday morning, wildlife conservationists received an urgent call from Palangghat, Cachar, about a yellow and black snake, locally known as "Sonkhuni Saap," that had entered a hardware shop. Upon arrival, they discovered the snake coiled inside a bundle of PVC pipes.
Contrary to initial expectations of a normal-sized reptile, the snake turned out to be exceptionally large. The rescue team, working closely with the Barak Valley Wildlife Division, followed standard protocols to ensure the safe capture and release of the snake.
The operation was successful thanks to the cooperation of the local community, who remained supportive throughout. Following the rescue, the team provided awareness about handling such situations and emphasized the importance of conservation efforts.
