Rongpur PHE project committee urges DC Cachar to complete pending work

The Rongpur PHE Project Committee submitted a memorandum to the DC Cachar, demanding the swift completion of the partially constructed PHE project in Rongpur First Block. On Monday, the committee and local residents expressed their frustration over the stalled project, which has left the community without clean drinking water for over two years.

Speaking to the media, Committee President Neharul Ahmed Mazumdar highlighted that despite multiple discussions with departmental officials, no action has been taken. Last November, the District Magistrate visited Rongpur to review various projects and directed officials to complete them by January 2024.

Residents formed a committee as instructed, but claim that officials have yet to resume work. Frustrated by inaction, they submitted the memorandum through the Gudamghat Water Supply Scheme Management and Sanitation Committee. They warned that failure to meet their demands could lead to a larger democratic movement.
