Sahil Chanda and Others vs Assam University: Non-CBCS Students of Barak Valley files Writ-Petition against Assam University in Guwahati High Court.
Only a few weeks ago, Assam University had published a notice regarding the examination of the CBCS students. Some of the remaining theory exams were cancelled, while the rest of them, including the practical papers, were directed to be taken in assignment mode. Whereas, no mention of Non-CBCS students were made and they were denied of the online mode of examination as well.
Assam University, Silchar has always been playing with the careers of the students like it is of no value and this time is no different. The Non-CBCS students have their careers at stake with no notice from the University whatsoever.

The Non-CBCS students of Barak Valley have risen up to the cause. With other universities like Guwahati University, Cotton College and many others, conducting Open-Book examinations, Assam University seems to be very much ignorant about their students' examinations, which eventually shuts off their career exposure and led to the loss of one academic year of the students.
The Students had submitted memorandums to DC of three respective districts, Assam University, Education Minister but no reciprocation was made. With no other option left, the Non-CBCS students of Barak Valley have filed a Writ Petition on 2nd July in Guwahati High Court against Assam University.
Talking to one of our correspondents from Explore Valley, Bikram Dutta from the Commerce Department of Cachar College, Silchar said, "The petition has been filed by an amalgamation of 100 such students from Barak Valley. We hired Advocate Mr. Gautam Choudhary of Guwahati High Court and Budhaditya Purkayastha who is a Law student from Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad residing in Silchar right now has also been a great support to the students for the cause." Bikram Dutta is one of the 100 Students of Barak Valley who is into the movement.
Looking into the Covid scenario of the State, further hearing sessions might be done through Zoom meetings. Now it is for time to say if the efforts of the students nurture into some positive result from Assam University and if their careers can be saved even after such obliviousness by the University.
