SC bans firecrackers across India ahead of Diwali
In an effort to curb air and noise pollution during the festive season, the Supreme Court of India has issued a ban on the sale and use of firecrackers across the nation. The ban, imposed ahead of Diwali celebrations, applies not only to the national capital Delhi but also to every state in the country.
The decision came in response to a plea addressing the alarming levels of pollution in Udaipur, which had led to a significant deterioration in the Air Quality Index (AQI). Concerned about the adverse effects of pollution, the apex court took swift action to prevent further environmental damage during the festive period.
The ban on firecrackers is aimed at safeguarding the environment and ensuring the well-being of citizens. This move reflects the court's commitment to addressing the pressing issue of pollution, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in preserving the nation's air quality and reducing noise pollution during Diwali celebrations.
