School at Kathal road closed since 15 days after drain water reaches school premises
The Haji Khudeja Choudhury M.E. School, situated just 5 kilometers from the city on Silchar-Kathal Road, has been grappling with a critical situation for almost 15 days, resulting in the school's closure.
The institution, hosting 105 students, is facing a severe issue of waterlogging, causing the school authorities to take the decision to temporarily shut down the school.
The ongoing problem of waterlogging in the area, exacerbated by the cessation of soil dumping and water drainage measures around the school, has forced the School Management Committee and the School Administrative Committee to close the school temporarily.
Baby Begum Barbhuiya, the Chairperson of the Haji Khudeja Choudhury M.E. School Management Committee, informed reporters on Tuesday that the unpleasant odor emanating from the waterlogged drain has resulted in the closure of the school for the past 15 days.
The local administration, along with departmental officials, has been apprised of the situation.
Despite attracting the attention of local authorities and departmental officers to the current condition of the school, no concrete solutions have been provided to address the ongoing waterlogging issue.
As a result, the school has been compelled to remain closed for the past 15 days, leaving 105 students from the 6th to 8th grades in a state of uncertainty about their future.
While discussions have been held with local administrative and departmental officials about the present state of the school and the future of the students, no tangible resolution has been achieved.
Consequently, the school, grappling with waterlogging issues, remains shut. In a bid to expedite the drainage measures and address the waterlogging problem promptly, the School Management Committee has urgently appealed to the government for swift action.
