School Van carrying 14 children meets with an unforeseen occurance.
A school van carrying 14 children of the Red Rose Academy of Rangpur met with a horrific road accident in the Choiltakandi area of Udharband this morning .Out of the 14 children 6 children and the driver are referred to SMCH for critical care while the other 8 students are said to be in a stable condition and are released after the Preliminary health check up from the Udharband Primary Health center.
According to sources, the school van of the Red Rose Academy was heading to the school campus when the road accident took place. The students boarded the van from Dudhpatil Durga Bari Area.
All the student's including the driver named Shekar Das aged 58 suffered injuries and were rushed to the Udharband Primary Health Care center form where the driver and 6 other students were referred to Silchar Medical College and Hospital and the other 8 students were discharged after the primary health check-up and required treatment. The locals played a significant role in carrying the injured to the Hospital.
It is said that,the school van numbered MN 04 D 6849 had a steering failure,and so when the driver wanted to turn and keep the vehicle on road,but he could not.
In this regard the locals have raised a question whether the van had permission to take 14 children all together and if not so then why did the school authority put so many lives in threat.
