Scooter distributed among female students achieving 75 percent and above marks in HS examination 2023 in Silchar
The prestigious Dr. Banikant Kakti Merit Award was conferred in a grand ceremony held on Thursday, recognizing academic excellence among students.
As part of the ceremony, scooters were officially distributed to students who achieved 75 percent or more marks in the 2023 Higher Secondary Examination. Additionally, girls who secured a first division were also honored with scooters.
The event, held at Narsingh Higher Secondary School ground in Silchar, was graced by the presence of Piyush Hazarika, the Public Relations and Water Resources Minister of the state, who attended as the chief guest. Minister Hazarika personally handed over scooties to 2934 students from Barak under the Assam Government's "Pragyan Bharti" scheme.
In his address, Minister Hazarika emphasized the state government's commitment to encouraging students to excel in their studies. He highlighted the various initiatives undertaken by the government to elevate the standard of education across Assam. The distribution of scooties on this occasion extended to 35,770 students throughout the state, with 30,205 female students and 5763 male students receiving this recognition. Specifically, 1,231 students from Cachar, 1,249 from Karimganj, and 454 from Hailakandi district were among the recipients.
Minister Hazarika urged the students to leverage education as a tool to contribute to the development of the country and the state. He emphasized the importance of educational initiatives in alignment with the central and state governments' developmental projects.
Responding to questions from journalists, Minister Piyush Hazarika expressed a view of unity between the Congress and AIUDF, referring to them as "brothers." He also addressed the alleged misinformation from Karimganj MLA Kamalaksh and emphasized the disparity between Congress' actions and statements.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of key figures including Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, District Magistrate Rohan Kumar Jhan, Police Nomal Mahatta, Kaushik Rai, Mihir Kanti Som, BJP District President Bimalendu Roy, and Konad Purkayastha, among others. The event underscored the government's commitment to recognizing and rewarding academic merit among the youth of Assam.
