Silchar Bhaktapur resident Okram Prashant Singh appears before Guwahati High Court alleging APSC job scam
In a significant development, the Guwahati High Court has initiated an inquiry into an alleged job scam within the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) following the petition of Okram Prashant Singh, a resident of Silchar Bhaktapur. The court's order led to the revelation of the wrongful employment of Rakesh Pal and subsequently exposed a larger nexus of illegal appointments.
The investigation, prompted by Okram Prashant Singh's case, has unveiled a series of irregularities in the APSC recruitment process, shedding light on the unlawful hiring of 34 individuals. Prashant Singh, who runs a coaching center in Guwahati, claimed that the malpractices took place during the 2013 APSC examination, where students from his coaching center participated.
In the said examination, a candidate named Gogoi secured the top rank but was allegedly denied the job. Prashant Singh, in his complaint, asserted that the discrepancies in the recruitment process have led to the wrongful denial of employment to deserving and qualified candidates while favoring others through illegal means.
The local resident accused the APSC of steering job opportunities in the wrong direction, adversely affecting numerous well-qualified applicants. Singh highlighted the denial of justice to candidates who rightfully deserved positions but were allegedly overlooked due to the irregularities in the recruitment system.
Prashant Singh's legal action has brought to light the pervasive issue of illegal employment practices within the APSC, raising questions about the integrity of the commission's selection procedures. The court's decision to launch an inquiry into this matter signals a commitment to ensuring justice and fair practices in public service recruitment.
As the investigation progresses, it is anticipated that further details will emerge, providing insights into the extent of the job scam and its impact on the careers of deserving candidates. The APSC is likely to face increased scrutiny, with demands for transparency and accountability in the recruitment process gaining momentum.
