Silchar family attacked by robbers on way back from canceled CUET exam, three arrested
Two CUET candidates and their family members were caught by a gang of robbers at Tinghori on the Silchar-Kalain road. The prompt action of the Bhangarpar Police led to the arrest of three robbers.
On Thursday, they had set out from Silchar to Shillong to take the CUET exam. However, upon learning that the exam had been canceled, they decided to return home.
Around 3 AM on Thursday night, they were attacked and robbed at Tinghori, under the jurisdiction of the Bihara Police Outpost.
As they reached Tinghori at 3 AM, a gang of six robbers blocked their path with a thick rope and attacked them with sharp weapons.
The robbers snatched their mobile phones, gold jewelry from the women, and cash. The robbers even assaulted them. The victims immediately informed the Bhangarpar Police about the incident.
The Bhangarpar Police, along with the victims, rushed to the scene. They noticed an Alto car a short distance from the scene and identified the three occupants as the robbers.
The police successfully arrested the three robbers and took them to the Bhangarpar Police Station. Later, the Bhangarpar Police handed over the robbers to the Bihara Police.
