Silchar's Govt Girls School teacher accused of holding 'False education qualification': Student writes written complaint to education department

In a significant development, allegations have emerged against the principal of Silchar Govt Girls Higher Secondary School, Bivas Chakraborty, regarding the authenticity of his educational qualifications. A complaint has been formally lodged with the district education department, claiming that the principal's educational credentials are false.

The complaint, submitted by Afsana Begum Sadiyal, a student of the same school, has been addressed to the Director of Secondary Education, Minister of Education, School Inspector, and Cachar District Magistrate Rohan Kumar Jhan. Afsana's complaint raises concerns about various alleged irregularities since Chakraborty assumed the role of acting principal in 2022.

According to Afsana, Chakraborty has been implicated in several controversies, including his direct involvement with Sarva Shiksha Mission's financial matters, raising questions about his conduct. Moreover, Afsana alleges that Chakraborty collected an unauthorized examination fee from students, which was only refunded after facing scrutiny from the students' guardians.

The crux of the complaint revolves around the claim that Bivas Chakraborty, holding a B.Sc degree, is ineligible for the principal's post, as he allegedly possesses a fake MA degree in Education from a university in Uttar Pradesh. Afsana highlights a Gauhati High Court litigation order (WP(C) Order No-2983/2017) stating that Chakraborty's predecessor, Bijan Nath, was not granted any degree from the mentioned university. Afsana urges authorities to investigate Chakraborty's educational qualifications, remove him from the school, and take necessary actions to uphold the overall educational environment.
