Silchar's Malini Beel area residents threaten to boycott upcoming MP election if roads and drinking water issues remain unsolved

The residents of Silchar Malini beel area are expressing their frustration and disappointment, declaring that they will abstain from voting in the upcoming elections if their longstanding issues, including the lack of roads and drinking water facilities, are not addressed.

In a media interaction on Wednesday, the residents highlighted the persistent challenges they have faced for an extended period. Over the past 16 years, the locality has allegedly witnessed no significant development, leaving the residents in a state of neglect.

Adding to their grievances, the locals claimed to be excluded from essential government provisions, such as old age allowance and the Prime Minister Awas Yojana. When attempts were made to communicate these concerns to the Silchar MLA, the residents alleged that they were met with reluctance, and the MLA declined to meet them.

The poor condition of roads in the area has become a major obstacle, particularly for students who encounter difficulties traveling to school. Additionally, the lack of proper roads forces residents to shoulder the burden of transporting sick patients for medical treatment.

Expressing their discontent, the residents have collectively decided that if their demands for essential amenities and infrastructure improvements are not met promptly, they will exercise their right to boycott the upcoming elections.

This declaration serves as a stark indication of the local population's dissatisfaction with the prolonged neglect and their determination to prioritize their fundamental needs.
