A nationwide wave of protests has been ignited following the murder of a 22-year-old female doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College. The young doctor's body was discovered on Friday morning on the fourth floor of the emergency department. Initial reports suggest she was raped and murdered, with her clothing found in disarray and the seminar hall where her body was located lacking CCTV coverage.

In response, doctors from Silchar Medical College staged a large candlelight march on Monday evening, demanding justice for the victim and greater safety for healthcare professionals across the country. The Junior Doctors' Association of Silchar Medical College has called for an impartial autopsy and a judicial investigation into the incident.

Protesters chanted slogans such as "We demand justice for the murder" and "Ensure our safety, or this fire will burn on." Prominent figures in the protest included Dr. Konokdeep Sharma, President Dr. Salman Chowdhury, General Secretary Dr. Tahir Ahmed Barbhuiya, Vice Presidents Dr. Puneet Sharma and Dr. Ronak Bhattacharya, Treasurer Atikur Rahman Chowdhury, Dr. Madhusmita Sam, Associate Secretary Dr. Daniel Nawaz Majumdar, Dr. Saptarshi Sinha, and Dr. Ashwin Kumar, among others.
