Smugglers try to Pull Off 'Pushpa' Style Burmese Supari Smuggling, Fails Terribly, Vehicle Seized by Assam Police
In a significant breakthrough, law enforcement authorities managed to intercept two lorries engaged in smuggling Burmese betel nuts using deceptive methods. The smugglers resorted to creative concealment, attempting to evade detection by placing secret boxes on top of the lorry cabins.
Acting on intelligence received from undisclosed sources, the police successfully apprehended a twelve-wheeler lorry, bearing the number TR 05 A 1901, near Shira on National Highway No. 6. The lorry was equipped with concealed compartments designed to smuggle Burmese betel nuts. Simultaneously, another lorry, with registration number AS 10 C 3869, was intercepted in Thitakori. This second vehicle was camouflaging its illicit cargo by loading old cartons above the hidden sacks of Burmese betel nuts.
During the operation, law enforcement officers managed to recover 25 sacks of smuggled Burmese betel nuts from the lorry loaded with old cartons. Regrettably, the traffickers, along with the handyman and the two lorry drivers, managed to escape after becoming aware of the police operation. Presently, both lorries are under the custody of Katigara police station.
