Sonai MLA Karim Uddin Barbhuiya demands Chief Minister's accountability amidst valley's ongoing problems

Silchar, 08/09/23: In a press conference held today, Sonai Samshti MLA Karim Uddin Barbhuiya voiced the concerns of Barak Valley residents, demanding accountability from the Chief Minister regarding the recent Cabinet meeting announcements and the persisting issues across the valley.

Mr. Barbhuiya highlighted that despite the recent inauguration of three projects and the laying of the foundation stone for another project within the assembly area, the people of Barak Valley continue to grapple with a range of problems, with electricity shortages being a pressing concern affecting numerous localities.

"Communications are down, and the residents are facing dire straits," stated Mr. Barbhuiya. " The Chief Minister must provide answers for the current plight of the valley. His claims that the people of Barak are content with the delimitation do not align with the ground reality, as there is widespread dissatisfaction among the residents."

He further expressed concerns about the redistribution of seats, noting that the Chief Minister's decision to allocate only two seats for Barak Valley while diverting some to Upper Assam was problematic. "The population of Barak Valley warrants a proportionate increase in seats," emphasized Mr. Barabhuiya.

Another matter of contention raised by Mr. Barbhuiya was the Chief Minister's silence on the issue of the Bhasha Shahid Station in Silchar. He questioned the rationale behind this omission and called for an explanation.

During the press conference, MLA Karim Uddin Barbhuiya underscored the importance of the Chief Minister addressing various other pressing issues affecting Barak Valley residents.

The call for accountability comes as the people of Barak Valley seek solutions to their ongoing challenges and a more equitable distribution of resources and representation in the region.
