Sonai Police arrests one of GP secretaries in Cachar for allegedly defrauding various government schemes

Deepa Shankar Dutt, the secretary of Digarkhal Paikan Gram Panchayat (GP), has been apprehended by Sonai Police in Cachar on charges related to a financial scam involving various government schemes.

The arrest took place on Thursday night following accusations that Kripa Shankar Dutt, while serving as the secretary of Swadhinbazar GP, misappropriated over 22 lakhs from multiple government initiatives.

The complaint exposing the alleged embezzlement led to an investigation, during which the details emerged. Ranjit Kumar Lashkar, the CEO of Cachar Zilla Parishad, subsequently filed a case against Kripa Shankar. Acting upon this case, the arrest of Kripa Shankar Dutt occurred on the night of the incident. Presently, the police are actively interrogating the accused in their custody.
