Sonowal's Dibrugarh constituency leads Assam in NOTA votes
The results of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, released by the Election Commission of India, revealed that the Dibrugarh constituency, represented by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, recorded the highest number of 'None of The Above' (NOTA) votes in Assam with 32,255 votes out of the state's total of 2,40,301. In contrast, Karimganj, where BJP's Kripanath Malla was re-elected, had the lowest NOTA votes at 2,940.
The newly formed Kaziranga constituency had the second-highest NOTA votes with 24,431, followed by Darrang-Udalguri with 23,204. Other notable constituencies with significant NOTA votes included Guwahati (20,249), Sonitpur (18,748), Barpeta (17,117), Lakhimpur (16,921), Dhubri (15,015), and Jorhat (14,555).
The BJP secured nine seats, while its allies, the AGP and UPPL, won one seat each. The Congress party managed to win three seats. Elections across the 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam were conducted in three phases on April 19, April 26, and May 7, with an overall voter turnout of 81.56 percent.
