Speedy restoration: Derailed railway track between Jatinga Lumpur and New Harangajao fixed, trains resume service
After a swift and intensive effort by railway authorities, the restoration of the derailed track between Jatinga Lumpur and New Harangajao has been successfully completed today at 2 PM.
The derailment incident on April 25 disrupted train services, leading to cancellations, short terminations, and rescheduling of several trains.
Departmental engineers worked tirelessly on a war footing, toiling overnight to restore the track to operational status. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, NF Railway arranged buses for stranded passengers and ensured the distribution of food and water.
A workforce of 300 labourers, supported by 10 machines, was mobilized to expedite the restoration work, resulting in a record turnaround time.
Sabyasachi De, the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), provided an update to Barak Bulletin, confirming the completion of the restoration efforts.
According to a statement from the NF Railway CPRO, senior railway officials, including the General Manager, swiftly responded to the derailment incident, deploying personnel and machinery despite challenging weather conditions in the hilly terrain.
The section was declared fit for train operations at 13:59 hrs today, with the first train, the 20502 Anand Vihar - Agartala Tejas Rajdhani, crossing the restored section at 15:56 hrs.
To facilitate passenger convenience, free buses were arranged from Lumding station to transport passengers to their respective destinations, in coordination with state authorities. Additionally, stranded passengers were provided with complimentary food and water.
With the Lok Sabha elections underway in the Barak Valley, the restoration of train services brings relief to commuters amidst the electoral activities.
The efficient response and swift action by railway authorities underscore their commitment to ensuring the smooth functioning of essential services, even in challenging circumstances.
