In a significant crackdown on the circulation of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FCIN) in the state, the Special Task Force (STF) Assam carried out a targeted operation on Tuesday evening at Comfort Home Hotel, near Maharshi Vidya Mandir School, Lalmati, Borsojai, Jagaran Path, under Basistha Police Station. Acting on confidential information, the STF arrested a suspect linked to the illicit activity.

During the raid, STF Assam seized a cache of counterfeit currency and related paraphernalia. The recovered items included 280 fake Rs 500 denomination notes, two mobile phones, a FICN printing machine, 21 rolls of sparkling tapes, two transparent book covers, an HP Deskjet 2332 printer, a ream of white A-4 size paper, a scale, a utility knife, 38 green color-wrapped items, and bundles of white papers designed to mimic Rs 500 notes. Among these, five bundles contained Rs 500 denomination FCIN.

The operation resulted in the apprehension of Najrul Mazumdar (35), son of Moinul Hoque Mazumdar, residing at Duchpatti Part 5, PS: Silchar, Dist: Cachar (Assam). Authorities swiftly initiated necessary legal actions against the accused.

This operation highlights the relentless efforts of the STF Assam in combating counterfeit currency circulation within the state. The arrest sends a strong message to counterfeiters and reaffirms the commitment of law enforcement agencies to maintain the integrity of the nation's currency system.
