Students demonstrate protest against Women's College admission scam
Today, students who were unable to secure admission to various colleges in Silchar gathered at the District Commissioner’s office to address their concerns.
They sought a meeting with Antara Sen, the Additional Deputy Commissioner in charge of the education department, but she was unavailable.
Frustrated and anxious about their future, the students chanted slogans demanding solutions to their admission problems. Magistrate Lakhyajit Gogoi arrived on behalf of the district administration but could not provide any assurance regarding their admissions.
As the students attempted to speak with the District Commissioner, he left through a different gate without addressing them, leaving the students feeling upset and aggrieved.
As the students were about to leave, the Officer-in-Charge of the Sadar Police Station accused them of detaining the District Commissioner, a claim the students refuted.
They emphasized that they had repeatedly visited the office to resolve their admission issues and detaining the Commissioner would not solve their problem.
Later in the afternoon, Magistrate Lakhyajit Gogoi facilitated a meeting at the District Commissioner’s office with the principal of Women's College and two student representatives, Swagata Bhattacharjee and Babli Das.
During the discussion, it was assured that the admission issues would be resolved once the CUET exam results were declared.
