Sudden tragedy strikes Sonai's locals as dead body recovered from a pond

The discovery of a deceased person's body in the Kazidahr pond has stirred considerable concern and excitement in the Sonai area.

The individual identified as Amlan Kusum Nath Barbhuiya, aged fifty-one, and a resident of Kazidahar 2nd block, reportedly drowned during the night. The incident came to light when a woman from a neighboring family noticed the lifeless body floating in the water in the morning. Her cries drew the attention of locals, leading to a gathering at the site.

The local Village Defense Party (VDP) secretary, Saharul Islam, promptly reported the matter to the Sonai police. Soon after OC of the Sonai police station reached the scene. Subsequently, the police, under the supervision of Magistrate Mohammad Mubin, recovered the deceased person. The body was then transferred to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

In a brief statement, the deceased person's brother-in-law, Sanjay Nath, shared the family's grief over the unfortunate incident. The circumstances surrounding the drowning are under investigation by the authorities.
