Supreme Court orders NEET to hold re-examination for 1,563 candidates amid alleged scam
In a significant move, the Indian government has decided to invalidate the NEET-UG 2024 scorecards of 1,563 candidates who were previously granted grace marks, citing concerns over the fairness of the examination process.
Following intensive committee meetings held from June 10 to 12 to probe allegations of improprieties, it was concluded that these specific scorecards would be revoked, offering affected students the chance to retake the exam to uphold the integrity of admissions.
Despite these developments, the Supreme Court has assured that the counseling process for NEET-UG 2024 will proceed as scheduled, without any disruptions.
It has underscored the importance of maintaining the examination's sanctity and ensuring all activities related to the exam, including counseling, continue unhindered.
The re-examination for impacted candidates is slated for June 23, with results anticipated by June 30. Subsequently, counseling for various medical courses will kick off on July 6.
Further hearings by the Supreme Court are scheduled for July 8 to address pending petitions, including those advocating for the cancellation of NEET-UG 2024 due to alleged malpractices.
These developments stem from a petition filed by PhysicsWallah founder Alakh Pandey, highlighting discrepancies in grace marks administration, prompting calls for a comprehensive review of examination procedures to ensure fairness and equal opportunities for all candidates.
