Suspected Case of Black Fungus Detected in SMCH: Officials Revealed at a Press Meet. As the Biopsy Report is not yet received the officials can't confirm this as Black Fungus Positive.
A press meet was arranged over a suspected case of a Black Fungus patient that has caught everyone's attention. The patient is from Karimganj, now at SMCH. The meet was attended by Hon'ble Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy , DC Cachar Keerti Jalli and Principal of SMCH Principal Dr.Babul Bezbaruah.
As informed, the results of the test are awaited, however, initial reports indicate the same as of now. The patient is Covid negative and had taken admission to SMCH because of an eye problem. He is diabetic and has comorbidities. However, the patient is being taken care of and Mucormycosis treatment has been initiated already.
It is informed to the public that Black Fungus is common during monsoon season, however, due to Covid-19 lowering the immunity of people manifolds, the patient with comorbidities especially, diabetics it can take a severe turn. It had been requested to the public not to panic in this situation. Getting tested early and isolating yourself preferably in covid care centres under doctor supervision is of utmost importance.
