Tensions rise on Ashram road: Police and CRPF deployed over liquor shop controversy
Silchar, Ashram Road: On Saturday night, a liquor store in the Ashram Road area of Silchar became the center of a heated situation, necessitating the deployment of police and CRPF forces.
The incident has led to a case being filed at the National Highway Outpost.
Incident Details: Around 9 PM, a woman passing by the Ruby Wine Shop, located between Chengkuri Road intersection and Ashram Road point, was subjected to derogatory comments by some local inebriated youths.
The woman reported the incident to Sujit Das Choudhury, president of the Kavarta Samaj Unnayan Parishad.
When Choudhury arrived at the wine shop to inquire about the incident, the owner, Bappi Kar, along with several drunken youths, verbally assaulted him with obscene language, escalating the situation further.
Authorities Respond: Additional Superintendent of Police arrived on the scene with a large police force to control the situation.
A case was filed by Sujit Das Choudhury and others, demanding justice and the removal of the liquor store from the area.
Community Concerns: Local residents have long complained that the Ruby Wine Shop has been creating an unsocial environment in the area.
Every evening, groups of people gather outside the shop, leading to a deterioration in the social fabric and posing a threat to the future of the local youth.
The community strongly demands the immediate removal of the liquor store from the area.
