Three Held for Sexually Assaulting Minor's Dead body in Karimganj

On September 9th, a horrifying incident unfolded in Medal Part-I, sending shockwaves through Assam. Three individuals, including a railway employee, have been apprehended by the state police for their alleged involvement in the strangulation and sexual assault of a minor girl in Karimganj district. Tragically, the lifeless body of the minor was discovered beside the Karimganj town bypass on the same day she was found deceased, as reported by a news agency.
Sources reveal that this gruesome event occurred at approximately 11 p.m. on that fateful day when the three accused forcibly entered the victim's residence. They subsequently engaged in reprehensible acts with her lifeless body, as confirmed by Superintendent of Police Partha Pratim Das of Karimganj district.
"In response to this distressing incident on September 9th, where the lifeless body of a minor girl was discovered within her home in Medal Part-I during her parents' absence, we initiated legal proceedings by registering a case (number 694/23) under Section 376(A) IPC, along with Section 6 of the POCSO Act. Following this, a post-mortem examination was conducted at Silchar Medical College," stated Das.
