Tragic accident claims life of former teacher after autohrickshaw hits her while crossing the road at Bashkandi's NH37
In a tragic incident, 65-year-old former teacher Lakshmi Kairi lost her life in a road accident at Badribasti on National Highway No. 37 in the Bashkandi Police Outpost area. The accident occurred when she was hit by an auto while crossing the national highway towards Silchar on Wednesday night.
Following the collision, Lakshmi Kairi fell to the ground and was immediately rushed to the local Alipore hospital in a critical condition. Unfortunately, the doctor on duty declared her dead upon arrival.
The auto involved in the accident managed to flee the scene, prompting local residents to react strongly. Outraged by the incident, they blocked the national highway in Badribasti for approximately half an hour. The road blockade was eventually lifted with the assistance of the present police.
The police have sent Lakshmi Kairi's body to Silchar Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination. Lakshmi, a former teacher from Kashipur Sona Singh LP School, was well-known in the community. Her husband, Shibdulal Kairi, served as the former Headmaster of Kashipur Vallabhbhai Patel High School. The couple had one son, three daughters, and grandchildren.
