Tragic discovery in Udharband 6 mile area: Young man found dead near petrol pump, suspected drug overdose

In a somber incident, the dead body of a 24-year-old man, identified as Samarjeet Malakar, was discovered near a petrol pump in the Udharband Six Mile area on Friday. The deceased, son of late Dhirendra Malakar and a resident of Udharband Hospital Road, was found with drug containers and syringes by Udharband police.

Locals, familiar with Samarjeet's struggle with drug addiction, speculate that his untimely death may be a result of a drug overdose. The young man had a history of substance abuse, leading to his admission to a private de-addiction center in Silchar.

Returning home last Wednesday after a stint at the de-addiction center, Samarjeet's life took a tragic turn. On Friday morning, the Udharband police received information about the discovery of his lifeless body near the petrol pump. Swiftly responding to the call, the police team reached the spot and recovered the body, subsequently transporting it to the police station.

As part of the investigative process, Samarjeet's body was sent to Silchar Medical College for post-mortem examination. The recovery of drug-related paraphernalia at the scene has fueled local beliefs that the young man's demise may be attributed to a drug overdose. The incident sheds light on the challenges of substance abuse and its devastating consequences, prompting a call for greater awareness and support for individuals battling addiction.
