Tragic end: Girl's suicide in Sonai highlights severe blackmailing issue

Tuhina Akhtar Laskar, a student at Moinul Haque Chowdhury High Secondary School in Sonabarighat, tragically took her own life after enduring severe blackmailing following a relationship.

Unable to bear the blackmail, Tuhina's distress led her to consume poison, which ultimately resulted in her death despite being rushed to Silchar Medical College Hospital.

The incident took place in Sonai Dhanehri village, leaving her family in shock and grief.

Upon investigating Tuhina's belongings, her family discovered a mobile phone containing numerous WhatsApp voice messages from a boy named Fariz Uddin, threatening her repeatedly.

The messages included threats of self-harm if Tuhina did not respond, hinting at the severe emotional pressure she was under.

Tuhina's family has filed a police complaint against Fariz Uddin, the son of Sangu Laskar, suspecting him of being the primary cause behind her suicide.

They urge a thorough investigation to unveil the truth and prevent such tragic incidents in the future.

The family's appeal to Assam's Chief Minister and the Cachar Police Superintendent underscores the need for stringent action against those responsible for blackmailing and driving young girls to such extremes.
