A devastating fire broke out last weekend at an amusement park in Rajkot, Gujarat, resulting in the deaths of at least 33 people, including several children. The blaze, which erupted at the TRP Game Zone, saw police and firefighters struggling to identify bodies and control the fire amid ongoing rescue operations.

The park's owner, Yuvraj Singh Solanki, along with the manager, has been detained for questioning as an investigation into the cause of the fire, possibly ignited by welding work amid inflammable materials, is underway.

The incident, which occurred during a busy weekend with families enjoying summer vacation, caused significant structural damage, with footage showing firefighters clearing debris from collapsed tin roofs over bowling, go-carting, and trampoline attractions.

Police Commissioner Raju Bhargava confirmed that an offense for negligence and resulting deaths would be filed against Solanki. Six individuals, including the park's partners Prakash Jain, Yuvraj Singh Solanki, and Rahul Rathod, face charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his distress over the incident and extended his condolences to the bereaved families. The Gujarat High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the tragedy, highlighting the gravity of the situation and the need for stringent safety measures in public recreational spaces.
