Tragic Head-On Collision between Bike and Auto in Kabuganj Leaves 8 Injured, 3 in Critical Condition

In a devastating accident that occurred in front of Kabuganj Janata College on Silchar-Aizawl National Highway No. 306, eight individuals, including two children, sustained injuries, with three of them in critical condition. The collision transpired around 10:15 AM, involving a speeding KTM motorcycle (registration number AS 11 Z 1149) traveling from Silchar to Kabuganj and an autorickshaw (registration number AS 11 AC 3258) heading in the opposite direction.

Eyewitnesses revealed that the impact of the head-on collision was so severe that both the motorcycle and autorickshaw were crushed and thrown several meters off the road. The accident occurred near the temporary Durga Puja mandap in front of Kabuganj Janata College. Among the injured, the condition of the two youths on the motorcycle is critical, along with a woman in the autorickshaw and the autorickshaw driver. Additionally, another passenger and two children in the autorickshaw sustained serious injuries.

Following the incident, Sonai police station Officer in Charge, Manash Hendik, swiftly arrived at the scene with a peacekeeping team. They facilitated the rescue of the injured individuals, transporting them to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Due to the delay in the arrival of the 108 ambulance, some victims were initially taken to the local Narsingpur Small Primary Health Centre and later transferred to the medical center in private vehicles. The situation grew tense as agitated locals, upset over the delayed ambulance response, expressed their frustration by confronting the ambulance staff. However, with the intervention of Sonai police station officials, order was restored, and the critically injured victims were eventually transferred to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for urgent medical attention.
