Violent protest erupts in Tarapur over Beef controversy

The incident involving cow meat caused a significant uproar in the Modon Mohon Road area of Tarapur. On the holy day of Eid-ul-Adha, the discovery of cow meat in someone's house sparked intense commotion in the area.
Various Hindu organizations arrived at the scene, demanding the arrest of the accused. Local men and women took to the streets in protest, further complicating the situation.
The officer-in-charge of the Sadar Police Station, along with the in-charge of Tarapur Police Station and Subrata Sen, the Additional Superintendent of Police of Cachar, arrived at the scene and seized the sacks of cow meat, arresting two individuals named Thinang Rongmai and Chamlak Po Rongmai, although the main accused managed to escape.
In response, the outraged public and Hindu organization officials surrounded the Tarapur Police Station. They staged a prolonged protest and chanted various slogans.
To control the situation, a large contingent of commandos and police was deployed in the area. The protestors demanded the immediate arrest of the main accused.
silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty arrived at the police station and echoed the demand for the arrest of the accused, urging the public to maintain peace.
Eventually, under pressure from the Hindu organizations and locals, the police arrested the main accused, Jianpuna Rongmai, within two hours and initiated a rigorous interrogation. The arrest brought the situation under control, and peace was restored in the Tarapur area.
