West Bengal government mandating air passengers from 5 states to show negative Covid certificates
The new rule mandating for the travellers from five states with high Covid-19 cases to have proof of being Covid-19 negative comes into effect on the day the state attends polls in the 7 phase of legislative elections. 6 rounds of 8 phased elections have already occurred amidst the rage of the second wave of Covid-19. The final phase is scheduled for April 29th and votes will be counted on May 2nd.
Air Travelers travelling to West Bengal from the other five states must provide proof that they have tested negative for (Covid-19) starting from Monday. Travellers from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh are required to report negative RT-PCR tests conducted within 72 hours before boarding the flights, for entry in the state. This is stated in the government of West Bengal Ordinance issued on Saturday.
Previously, the West Bengal Government-mandated people travelling from Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Telangana to carry Covid-19 test reports.

According to the report released by the State Health Department, that the highest single-day spike of 15,889 Covid-19 cases on Sunday, increasing the total number of infections to 7,43,950. According to the report, more than 57 people died due to Coronavirus and it takes the toll rose to 10,941.
Meanwhile, the total number of Covid-19 cases in India are 1,73,13,163, where India recorded a spike of 352,991 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. Coronavirus killed 2,812 people, taking the total death tally to 195,123.
