People in an extreme immune-compromised state are likely to contract this infection especially For diabetic people who just recovered from Covid-19. What is more worrying is that the use of steroids for treating certain cases of COVID-19 would shoot up sugar levels; this coupled with lack of physical activity puts diabetic people at a higher risk of catching the black fungal infection. A patient who recovered from COVID-19 should take care of themself as their immune system is already compromised due to the effect of COVID-19 and because of that they most likely to catch black fungus. Same in the case of cancer too.

The kidney is mainly responsible for filtering waste products, excess water and other impurities out of the blood. In a kidney compromised patient, the kidney cannot do all these functions which eventually makes a patient with kidney disease a more vulnerable subject for the black fungus to attack.
