Only when the country had started dealing with the deadly Black Fungus, another fungus, namely White Fungus has started to show its adversities already.
Talking of which, Dr. Priyanka Dutta has said that the White Fungus is many folds more dangerous than the Black Fungus. The fungus can infect a person having a low immunity or those who come in contact with water more than others.
The deadly White Fungus can affect not only the lungs but also other body parts including, nails, skin, stomach, kidney, private parts, mouth and brain as well. Dr. Priyanka has also asked people who notice any ulcer in their mouth, to consult a doctor immediately.
Covid-19 patients, however, are more susceptible to the White Fungus as it has been seen to affect the lungs severely, and the covid patients who are on Oxygen support are susceptible as well. She also adds that diabetic patients, cancer patients, and those who have been taking steroids for a long time should also be taking special care of themselves.
Patients who are infected by the White Fungus can be seen to show some covid-like symptoms, such as, Headache, Fever, Nausea, Diarrhea, Breathing Problems etc. The detection of White Fungus in one's body can be done through CT scan and x-ray. And as a precautionary measure, sanitation should be done at all costs.
Dr. Priyanka further advised, "Patient should constantly maintain sanitation and if they notice any symptoms, they should go for Covid-19 testing, and if the test comes negative, they should go for x-ray or CT scan.
No need to panic as it is life-threatening only when it infects the lungs".
She also added, "Mortality rate is unknown so far. We are using known antifungal drugs to cure this as of now."
Now it is only a matter of time for us to know, how adverse this White Fungus is going to be for the population.
